On Nov.19, 2019, during a press conference at the Mayor House of the city Ludwigsfelde near Berlin in Germany, the US traction battery solution provider Microvast, Inc., has announced the cooperation with FPT Industrial (the global brand of CNH Industrial specialized in powertrains for on and off-road, marine and power generation applications) in the development and supply of battery power systems, and has kicked off the setup of its EMEA Central Production Plant in Ludwigsfelde.
Microvast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FPT Industrial, which foresees both industrial and commercial cooperation to supply FPT Industrial with battery modules and enable the Brand to design and assemble battery packs in-house, at its facility in Turin, Italy, to be offered on CNH Industrial vehicles and to third-party customers.
Furthermore, as part of this cooperation, Microvast and FPT Industrial will start a joint new e-platform to develop and industrialize complete electrified powertrain systems, customized and sized for specific missions, with the aim of guaranteeing the most efficient performance both for on-road and off-road applications.

Microvast GmbH will start the construction of a plot covering a total space of 36,000 m2in Ludwigsfelde. The location can accommodate up to 250 employees, which will serve as the central production and R&D plant for the EMEA market. The plot construction will commence in April 2020 and is planned to be completed by December 2020. The EMEA Central Plant can deliver a total volume of 1.5 GWh battery modules and systems at the initial stage and will achieve up to 6 GWh in the next years.
