Reporting directly to the CHROthe Global Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety will be responsible for directing the development, support, deployment, monitoring and review of standards and management systems for Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Risk Assessment across Microvast globally. This individual will provide quality, timely and professional subject matter expertise and business support to ensure that a safe, sustainable, efficient and legally compliant work environment is established at all times. Finally, the individual in the role will lead a team of EHS professionals across the globe to provide direction to executives, senior and line management, contract management and other personnel to ensure operations are sustainable, and comply with group directives, as well as national and international legislation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • In consultation with appropriate stakeholder groups, direct the design, development, deployment, monitoring and review of EHS systems, processes and programs
  • Develop, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, plans and strategies to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and deliverables as negotiated and set by the global leadership team
  • Directs the implementation, monitoring, and review of EHS systems through yearly governance plans, audits and inspections, and management system reviews
  • Monitors compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety regulations and guidelines
  • Assess EHS risk potential of existing operations and new business opportunities
  • Develops and deploys incident investigation programs/procedures, including data analysis and incident prevention (loss control) programs and procedures
  • Directs EHS education/training efforts for all levels of employees, including supervision and senior management
  • Responsible for conducting on-site EHS audits/reviews of regional sites across the globe
  • Monitors and facilitates the reporting of EHS performance across the organization and supports the development and implementation of regional safety improvement plans
  • Monitors and reports on relevant changes in applicable Occupational Health & Safety and environmental regulations/requirements related to Microvast operations
  • Directs industrial hygiene, occupational and general safety programs to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with safety standards
  • Works with R&D during new product start-ups and establish checkpoints for testing new products and processes
  • Work with Engineering on new equipment start up by establishing audit/checks to ensure all new equipment meet standards
  • Work with customers’ management to ensure our systems, controls and vendor ratings are such that we develop and maintain our position as a preferred supplier in order to support the company’s marketing position
  • Will serve as the ISO 9001 representative. Required to conform to safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Responds and provides direct assistance to sites in emergency situations
  • Directs and supports site EHS managers in their efforts to to deliver EHS performance and compliance reports to Operations management

Knowledge, Skill And Abilities

  • Ability to establish trust with the executive team in order to effectively provide counsel regarding Federal and state EHS requirements
  • Demonstrated success in directing/managing EHS systems
  • Subject matter expert in EHS systems, OHS compliance strategies, and relevant US regulations, as well as International Standards
  • Well-versed in OSHA legislation and regulation, including GHS
  • Sound investigative skills and experience with regulatory negotiations
  • Sound OHS/management systems auditing skills, including formal training
  • Strong regulatory knowledge in federal, state, and local EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc., regulations
  • Knowledge of various Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) related to process safety
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 and 14000 standards, including training and documentation
  • Ability to implement and enforce systems and best practices
  • Ability to manage projects and conflicting priorities
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving long-range organizational goals

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in EHS, Safety, Environmental or similar
  • Relevant EHS and equivalent qualifications/certifications, e.g., BCSP, CSP, CIH
  • 10+ years experience in related EHS management role in a manufacturing setting
  • Must have experience with chemical manufacturing and dealing with explosive materials
  • High voltage safety is a plus
  • Trained EHS auditor
  • Travel as required, both domestically and internationally
